As I said, I have chosen Webgo as hoster. Here you can find out what you have to do to "activate" the hosting and install WordPress.
After I had decided to use Webgo, the setup had to be done. For this, I signed a contract with Webgo.
To set everything up I downloaded FileZilla, which is a free server and client software for file transfer via FTP and SFTP. I need this to upload data to my database at Webgo.
There are very good tutorials that I found on YouTube, where step by step is explained how to do it. (e.g. Set up webspace at Webgo and install WordPress - Webdesign-Podcast.de - Episode 40)
Beeing well prepared is half the battle
Download in advance to have everything at hand. If you follow a tutorial - it is better to watch it once completely and only then start to implement it.
Here are the steps that need to be taken:
In the Webgo customer portal
- Vertrag auswählen
- Domainauswählen – kann auch später erfolgen
- Registrieren
- Webservereinstellungen einrichten
- MySQL Datenbank anlegen
Thus, all the requirements that WordPress needs are met.
In order to install WordPress, the following steps must now be taken
Zurück in FileZilla
- Verzeichnis am Server aufrufen
- Index Html löschen
- WordPress Download Daten hochladen
In the WordPress setup, a few data must be entered and you are ready to go. Basically, the project is already 50% complete. Now it goes to the design.
For me, the nice part of the job starts now.
