Creating your own website

Creating your own website

Your own website in 4 steps

  1. Web hosting - this is where all the website data is stored and made available 24/7
  2. Buy your domain - the address at which the website can be found
  3. Install WordPress - the content management system to design the site
  4. Create your website

Webhost

  • The choice of web hosts is huge, so it's difficult to find the right one. I searched through various blogs, websites and reviews and finally decided on Webgo, a German provider that has very good ratings and uses green electricity to boot. Here is a brief overview of the advantages of Webgo:

Buy your domain

  • I use "United Domains" (united-domains.de) to buy domains, which is a German Internet provider. Here, too, there is a manifold choice of providers. I was convinced by the simple administration and configuration of the domains with this provider.

WordPress

  • WordPress is an open source software that lets you easily create a beautiful website, blog, or app. It's used by more bloggers, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies than all other vendors combined. I found that to be a compelling enough argument. It's free software that just needs to be installed and you're good to go.

Create your website

  • To do this, you choose a theme in WordPress, make a few configurations, download plugins and just start building.

But before it can really start, the theory described above must be put into practice.
